Imagine
that you serve on the hiring committee for an enterprise that does business
throughout the world. Your job is to select the next chief executive officer
(CEO) from a pool of several candidates. Here are facts about the two most prominent
candidates in the hiring pool..
One candidate served four years as CEO of the enterprise. During that four-year tenure, he took the following actions.
·
He
bad mouthed the enterprise the day he entered office.
·
He
insulted the workers.
·
He
tried to ban people from nations that have large Muslim populations from
entering the business.
·
He
called people who shouted racist and antisemitic slogans and insults “very fine
people.”
·
He
lied in an unsuccessful attempt to conceal that the world was threatened by the
worst airborne virus in a century.
·
He
was impeached for trying to force another enterprise to do a sham investigation
on his chief competitor.
·
He
called workers who gave their lives and were permanently disabled serving the
enterprise “losers” and “suckers.”
·
He
bragged that he paid no taxes.
·
The
family charity that he led was decertified due to fraud.
·
He
was ultimately fired from his CEO position.
·
Then
he refused to admit that he was fired, and called his successor an imposter.
·
He
was impeached a second time after he tried to prevent the enterprise from
installing his successor by calling supporters to attack the headquarters where
his successor’s election was being certified.
·
He
took sensitive enterprise documents and material to his private residence after
finally leaving office, refused to return them, and federal agents had to
forcibly retrieve them.
·
Since
he was fired he has been tried and found responsible for sexually assaulting a
woman years before he was hired, and found civilly liable for defaming the
woman after she alleged, and proved, that he sexually assaulted her.
·
His
private business was found guilty of fraud for falsifying its financial worth
during the time he led it.
·
He
has been tried and convicted by a jury of 34 felony charges of election
interference and making fraudulent business records.
·
The
three people he nominated for the highest court joined three other right-wing
justices to overturn landmark federal laws that protect civil liberties for
women and girls, people of color, and workers.
·
Since
he reapplied for the pending CEO position he has threatened to fire the
existing professional workforce and replace fired workers with his cronies if
he is rehired.
·
He
has promised to be a dictator.
·
And
he continues to say he wasn’t fired.
·
His
name is Donald Trump.
The other leading job applicant currently serves as Vice President of the enterprise.
·
She
has never been fired from any job.
·
She
has never been accused of fraud.
·
She
served honorably as a chief prosecutor for an area with the largest population
in the enterprise.
·
She
served honorably as a leading member of the enterprise.
·
She
has not been accused of stealing or mishandling enterprise documents and
materials.
·
She
has tried to protect civil liberties.
·
She
respects the professional workforce that makes the enterprise operate.
·
She
voted to impeach Donald Trump for trying to force another country to announce a
sham investigation of his political competitor.
·
She
later voted to impeach Trump for leading an insurrection in his attempt to
remain in office after he was fired.
·
Her
name is Kamala Harris.
You and I are on the CEO hiring committee. Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are the most prominent candidates.
Why would we select Trump over Harris?
Why would we select a swindler, sex offender, and commercial cheat over a prosecutor?
Why would we select a convicted felon who refuses to show remorse, contrition, or accept responsibility for his crimes over someone who has spent her career trying to protect people from being swindled, abused, and tormented?
Why would we entrust the enterprise and the lives, futures, and hopes of everyone who is part of it to the most dishonest, incompetent, and irresponsible sociopath who ever sought and was elected its CEO, after we fired him at the end of his first term in office?
We fired Donald Trump four years ago. He’s more dishonest, incompetent, and irresponsible now than when we fired him. And he’s proud about it.
If we rehire him, our neighbors will not save us from that folly and its consequences. Our enemies will celebrate and exploit our folly. No deity will excuse or forgive it.
History will record that we were fools. Our children and their descendants will curse our folly.
And Trump will go to his grave bragging about it.
